What Has Fair Game Been Playing? (May 2022) Fair Game Video Games

Here at Fair Game, we have an incredibly trained staff available to answer any question you may have on your retro gaming journey. We get tons of questions every day, from the practical (“How does this system work?”) to the informative (“What is this game about?”)

One question that the Fair Game Staff gets pretty often: “So, what have you been playing recently?” Good question, Fair Gamers! So let’s check it out: What Has Fair Game Been Playing?

Borderlands 3

With the release of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands in March, the Borderlands series has been enjoying a resurgence of attention to the franchise that started back in 2009. It has inspired Borderlands fans, new and old, to revisit the past installments of the first-person shooter series. Working their way through the series is Fair Game Manager Shelby, who is on the third game: “I started Borderlands 3 after (my significant other) and I beat the second one. I was Krieg in 2, and Amara in 3.”

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

There’s a ton of classic titles in the Fire Emblem canon, and this one might be near the top of the list: Path of Radiance is the ninth game in the mainline Fire Emblem series, and is considered by fans to be one of the best games in the long-running RPG series. With its fantasy storyline and tactical RPG gameplay, Fair Game Staff Member Brian has recently revisited Path of Radiance with his family: “I’ve been playing it with my brother for the first time, and it’s the last (most recent) title I got for my collection.”

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the latest entry in the long-running Assassin’s Creed line, released its latest downloadable update in March - Dawn of Ragnarok. The latest DLC expansion adds about 35 hours of new content, and has players taking on the role of Odin. If you’re an Assassin’s Creed fan, there’s a lot to love about Valhalla and the Dawn of Ragnarok expansion, but Fair Game Staff Member Capone seems to put it best: “Vikings are cool.”

Chess

Arguably the most retro game on this list, the centuries-old strategy game of hand-and-brain is in the midst of a resurgence in popularity - Chess hit a boom beginning in 2020, when top Chess Champions and Grandmasters took to Twitch to stream their games. The Chess Boom inspired a whole new wave of players to pick up the game, and inspired old players to dust off their boards and pieces. Fair Game Staff Member Cody is no different: “I haven’t played Chess in years. I didn’t realize how fun it could be once you start learning new ideas and strategies that work.”
