Top 7 Video Gaming Christmas Gifts (So Far..) Fair Game Video Games

The holiday season is really picking up, and with that, Christmas Shopping. We at Fair Game Retro Video Games thought it would be helpful to provide a list of the top selling video game related items (so far..) to help you shop for your favorite gamer (or to find what you want!). We've taken a look at the top-selling categories or items from Dec 1 through Dec 12 to see what has been the most popular this year! Read on to see if any of these surprise you.

Video Game Controllers

So far, the category that customers have shopped for the most is controllers, especially Wii controllers. Following Wii controllers, we've seen quite a few PS3 and PS2 controllers, as well as Gamecube controllers being picked up. We aren't sure if these are being purchased as gifts, or to add a second controller to all of the video game systems that have been selling (more on that later), but controllers make a great gift and extra controllers for family game night is an excellent idea as well. Here is a link if you want to grab a few controllers for yourself - Controllers

Plushies

Everyone loves plushies!! My kids have way too many, and I suspect they will have more before the end of the year :)  Plushies make great gifts and we have a huge selection in stock. So far, the most popular plushies are Pokemon, Animal Crossing, and Super Mario, but we have a great selection of other plushies as well. If you want to browse plushies, the best way is to visit our shop in Carmichael, CA. We do have them on our website as well, which you can view here - Plushies

Candies

Kids love seeing the Christmas Tree loaded with gifts, but they also love stockings! We have a ton of candy tins and they have been a huge seller so far this season. So far, the most popular candy tins have been Hylian Shield from Zelda, Senzu Beans from Dragon Ball Z, and other Nintendo Candy Tins. Customers have also enjoyed our holiday-themed tins such as Rudolph Snow Globe, Reindeer Noses, Snowman Poop, and Lump of Coal (someone has been bad!!). You can check out some of our candies here - Candy Tins

Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards

Who knew these would be so popular!! Out of the entire list, these Amiibo Cards are the only thing that is a single product rather than a "category". We haven't had these Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards in stock for very long, but they are a huge hit this holiday season. I just we have enough for everyone that wants them! Due to such high demand, we are reserving these for in-store shoppers. You can visit us any day from 11am to 7 pm. Here are directions!

Video Game Consoles/Systems

This one is not a surprise. Video Game systems make an amazing holiday gift and we usually sell out of multiple consoles each season. Fortunately, we still have a ton of great systems in stock! So far this year, customers are searching for both handheld and home systems pretty equally. Our best sellers have been the Nintendo Wii (I guess that's why so many Wii-motes have been purchased!), Gameboy Color, Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 3DS, PS3 and Xbox 360. There's still a lot of shopping time left this year, so we are curious to see which is the hottest system this year! Visit our shop to see our current stock and pick up a system for your loved one!

Mystery Boxes/Blind Boxes

Another great stocking stuffer, customers have been loving our selection of mystery boxes. They make wonderful gifts for collectors, casual gamers, and kids. The "mystery" of what you are going to get makes the anticipation just as fun as the figure itself. So far, the most popular blind boxes have been the World of Nintendo Super Mario Micro Figurines, Final Fantasy VII Polygon Figures, the Pokemon and Kirby Rement Collections, and the Super Mario Buildable Figures. We have even more in stock at the shop (My Hero Academia Figures anyone?) and they make such wonderful gifts!

AV to HDMI Adapters

With all of the systems flying out the door, it's no surprise that AV to HDMI Adapters are also such a hot item! Many newer TVs don't have AV connectors and these HD Cables and Adapters ensure that you can connect your retro video game system without issue. It isn't uncommon to see a nice visual quality and color improvement as well! Our most popular item is this category is the Universal AV to HD Converter, but the HD Cables for Nintendo Wii, 3-in-1 HDTV Cable for the Gamecube/N64/SNES, and the HDTV Cable for the PS2/PS1 are extremely popular as well.

Honorable Mention

We wanted to keep the list to seven, but there is one more item that is also flying of the shelves right now.. Christmas Tree Toppers!! We have three styles in stock this year, the highly desirable Super Mario Super Star Tree Topper, the Legend of Zelda Light-Up Tri-Force Topper, and the Fortnight Gold Loot Llama Topper! We actually have the Super Star Tree Topper on our tree at the shop!!
